Following his appointment over the weekend, new Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk took to social media on Sunday evening to send a quick message to the fans.
Hi guys, it’s been a busy few days. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome👏🏻 I’m looking forward to the challenge & giving my all for the club. Now let’s get to work!! #wawaw

With Lee Bullen’s stint as caretaker manager over, following Steve Bruce’s sharp exit, Monk has welcomed him onto his backroom staff as a touch of continuity and reaction to his arrival amongst fans has been very positive indeed given the jobs that he’s done elsewhere, and most recently Birmingham City despite their off pitch and Financial Fair Play concerns.
With Monk’s first game in charge coming this Sunday as we face Huddersfield Town, who are now also under the charge of heavily linked Danny Cowley, our new gaffer will want to hit the ground running as per his message and three points would lift everyone further as we look to a better season.
The reaction to his message on social media was partially mixed, but there were plenty of welcomes for him.

Welcome to Wednesday Garry. Do yourself a favour and delete twitter unless you want a few thousand people argue with your team selections before kick off…
